The Elco Traders page

Large Elco Logo

Through the use of these pages, we will try to put people who are interested in Elco boats, together with one another. Since Chuck only deals in new production Elco's or the refitting of existing vessels to an Elco, electrical propulsion system, these pages are devoted to people who are either: looking for Elco boats or parts for Elco boats OR have Elco boats or parts for sale.

Here's the way this page these pages will work. People looking to buy Elco boats or parts can email Chuck at:
Chuck will then put the request up on the page as soon as he can. There is no charge for this service. Simply send a description of what you are looking for along with your email address, shipping address and phone number. People who have what you are looking for will then contact you directly, you work out the details, and hopefully, both parties will be happy. Once again, this part of the service is free!

For those of you with something to sell, the plan is similar. You send Chuck the descriptions, pictures, whatever. They will be posted as quickly as possible in the FOR SALE section. Here comes the "string". For this service, Chuck would like 2% of the sale price as an advertising commission! The ad will stay posted until you advise that it is to be removed.

Chuck knows that all true Elco owners (both boats AND parts) are real ladies and gentlemen and wouldn't try to "stiff" him on the sales commission. If he finds out that you have cheated him, he WILL get even, some how, some way. (Chuck is a VERY vindictive person who does not forget wrongdoing.) The Elco community is fairly small. If you want everybody to know what a "CHEAP PR**K" you are, don't send your 2% to Chuck. Stop and think, is 2% really all, that, bad? Most auctions charge 10% "Buyers Premium" (or as Chuck calls it, "Buyers Penalty). Regular advertising is expensive. Here, you get an established Elco site for a measly 2%!

Neither Chuck, The Electric Launch Company (Elco), or The Southeast and Northern Company, Inc. make ANY warranty, either expressed or implied as to the salability, quality, fitness of use or application, or any of the items listed here. This is ONLY a listing service to put buyers and sellers together.

'Nuff said, let's proceed:

Elco Boats and Parts FOR SALE:

Please contact the seller directly. Do not ask Chuck about these items, he does not have any control over what the Sellers have requested in their listings. Chuck only "puts up" what gets sent to him.

April 2005

I am enclosing three photos of some of the elco parts I have had for over twenty years.

Misc. deck furniture and lighting hardware

Misc. steps, hinges and rail hardware

Running lights

A marina was going to crush old hull #212 I believe, and they let me have at it before they did. I really wanted the fold up wash station in the head and got it. All mahogany and chrome with the water pump, toothbrush and soap holders. I had everything rechromed and refinished the wood and it is stunning. Never seen one before, after or since. I guess Elco outfitted some of their boats with them. Another prize that I got, was the hugh bow cleat shaped like a cross.

The port and starboard running lights and the transom bronze steps are from another boat I think. Possibly a Pacer. The rest should be authentic Elco.

Anyway, I have more of some of the parts in the pictures. I would be interested in entertaining offers from folks that might be trying to restore old yachts.

I have a 1929 50' flat top and am looking for the original throttle and shift controls. I have one and need another. These units measure approximately 12" from top to bottom and have a shift lever with what appears to be a wooden ball on the end (top), a throttle lever without a ball and a small lever which was probably used as a choke or distributor-timing lever. They do not look like the ones shown in the current current ad for the later 53 / 57 Elco shown further down on this page.

Wanted: Complete throttle/gearshift lever assemblies for large late 1930's-early 1940's Elco motoryacht (53' or 57') as shown in the photo below:

Late '30's, early '40's Elco

Some yo-yo removed the originals and replaced them with a set of 1960's cheesy dual throttle assemblies. Actually, I'd be interested in any instrumentation similar to that shown in the photo that you might have sitting around.

I am looking for a few (5-6) small, mortised cupboard latches with oval handles. These are found throughout the interior of my 1928 50' flat top, typically on galley and locker doors. I imagine they were stock builders' cabinet hardware in their day but I've been unable to locate anything. The matching strike is unimportant as these can easily be fabricated from sheet brass.

I also have several wall-mounted, brass light holders of the type which accepted standard lamp sockets with a two-handled, sliding switch. The catch is that "standard" back then meant each of the two switch handles or buttons could be unscrewed allowing the socket assembly to slide into the brass housing. The equivalent contemporary replacement socket has either stamped or crimped switch handles (sometimes one piece) which make it impossible to install them in the old housing. Any source for old original style sockets would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I am currently restoring a twin-engined 1949 Elco 30’ Tuna Clipper sportfisherman and am in need of some hardware items. I am wondering what parts anyone may have for sale. As you most likely know, information and parts are not readily available for the post-war Elco’s. I am specifically looking for an original two-spoke steering wheel w/ the shaft its mounted to, the original oval instrument clusters, and other items. I would really like to bring this boat back as close as possible to its original condition and looks. My boat, #4049, has its original name "Splash" and was possibly built for or owned by Sonja Henie, the Olympic ice skater and movie star, or some other famous individual. I need to do some additional research to be certain. I have seen these items on the larger 35' and 40' Cruisettes of the same vintage. I have also seen the instrument panels on some pre-WWII boats. If anyone knows of an Elco that is being parted out, please let me know.

Thank you,
